L.A. COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS + CALIFORNIA SCHOOL EMPLOYEES + AFSCME CALIFORNIA = THE WORKERS WHO PROTECT AND EDUCATE CALIFORNIA ENDORSE ISAAC BRYAN

Los Angeles County Firefighters 1014 — representing 3,200 Firefighters, Paramedics, Dispatchers, Pilots, Wildland Firefighters, Forestry and Health Haz Mat personnel — announced today that they are endorsing Democrat Isaac Bryan in the Special Election for the currently vacant 54th State Assembly District.

So did the California School Employees association, the largest classified school employees union in the United States, representing more than 250,000 school support staff throughout California.

And so did AFSCME California, representing hundreds of thousands of nurses, domestic workers, University of California employees, emergency medical service workers, librarians, and state and local government employees.

”I’m honored to have earned the endorsement of L.A. County Firefighters Local 1014, California School Employees Association, and AFSCME California, and look forward to working with them for a healthier, safer California,” Isaac Bryan said. “Each of these unions represents frontline workers who make our state stronger all the time — not just during a pandemic. As the son of a teenage mother who couldn’t raise me, and as the adopted son of a parents who adopted me, raised me in a family of 15, and who served as foster parents for nearly 200 children over 26 years, it means so much to me that the union workers who protected and educated me have endorsed my candidacy for State Assembly. They understand my struggle, and I understand theirs. The labor movement is the backbone of progress for our community, our state, and our nation — and I’m proud to have earned the support of so many unions and union workers.”
Isaac Bryan was previously endorsed by unions representing hundreds of thousands of workers, including California Teachers Association, California Federation of Teachers, SEIU California, UNITE HERE Local 11, Painters District Council 36, L.A. County Public Defenders Union, National Union of Healthcare Workers, and American Federation of Teachers #1521.

Isaac, the Co-Chair of Measure J to Re-envision Justice in L.A. County, serves as the Director of Public Policy at UCLA’s Ralph Bunche Center and as an Executive Board Member of the Justice L.A. Coalition. He previously served in Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Office of Reentry and the CENTCOM unit, to address homelessness and housing, and as an advisor to Senator Sydney Kamlager when she served in the State Assembly.
